Developing affordable multifamily housing in rural areas presents unique challenges and opportunities. The need to aggregate many units across scattered sites, infrastructure, transportation, asset management and delivering supportive services are just a few of the barriers to the development of affordable rural housing. This conference is a welcome opportunity for those of us involved in the development of housing for these communities to discuss what steps we can implement to make creation of multifamily housing easier and less costly. I hope to see many friends and colleagues at the summit.
Last point: it strikes me as somewhat ironic that a conference on rural housing is being held in the second largest city in New England. Just saying…
